So do you all think that we should just go and see where it takes us? Yellowstone is quite large and I worry that I'll find something too far away.

Sorry for the delayed response from the Burt side....
It looks like we will try to find a campsite in/near West Yellowstone.
I'm looking at the dates of Monday 7/7 - Saturday 7/12. Spending Saturday at Yellowstone and then start heading back that night and getting a motel room somewhere on the drive back in Idaho.
We're still just along for the ride. :) I think we should probably know where to go before we get there--I see the family not dealing well with that amount of stress, especially when tired from driving!
